About the Artwork:

Similar to the big "Wanderleben", it is about the human being who repeatedly wanders from destination to destination. This can be seen both geographically and metaphorically. Man is on a quest and as soon as he finds what he wants, he continues his journey to new places. In this sense, the work describes not only an incessant migration from place to place, but also from destination to destination. In chaotic surroundings, people go their way, sleep, rest, eat and drink - they live on their journey. Individually or in community they cross the country. The marked path gives the figures orientation until the next station.

For the viewer, too, this clear path, beginning in the lower half on the left, means a syntactical structuring of the work, which is characterized overall by a chaotic yet structured wealth of forms.  The eye wanders from fragment to fragment. Like the figures, the viewer finds orientation in the clear blank path.

Über das Werk:

Ähnlich wie im großen „Wanderleben“ geht es um den Menschen, der wiederkehrend von Destination zu Destination wandert. Dies kann man sowohl geografisch als auch metaphorisch sehen. Der Mensch ist auf der Suche und sobald er das Gewünschte findet, führt er seine Reise zu neuen Plätzen fort. In diesem Sinne beschreibt das Werk nicht nur eine unablässige Wanderung von Ort zu Ort, aber auch von Ziel zu Ziel. In chaotischen Gefilden gehen die Menschen ihres Weges, schlafen, machen Rast, essen und trinken – sie leben auf ihrer Reise. Einzeln oder in Gemeinschaft durchqueren sie das Land. Der vorgezeichnete Weg gibt den Figuren Orientierung bis zur nächsten Station.

Auch für den Betrachter bedeutet dieser klare Weg, beginnend in der unteren Hälfte links, eine syntaktische Strukturierung des Werkes, das sich insgesamt durch einen chaotischen und doch strukturierten Formenreichtum auszeichnet.  Der Blick wandert von Fragment zu Fragment. Wie die Figuren findet der Betrachter Orientierung im klaren blanken Pfad.
